Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Workshop

A shower of hearts as a backdrop
for a simple, all-white table setting...

Hello everyone!

We wrapped up our series of Valentine's Day workshops with guest teacher Chikako Yamamoto of DDbistro last Thursday and it was great!
Organised in collaboration with Niki's Kitchen, we welcomed 30 participants over three days and I believe everyone left contented and happy to have spent a creative morning with like-minded people.

While Chikako was in charge of teaching the cookie decoration with sugar paste to the group of participants, I was busy in my kitchen preparing lunch for more than 10 people. On the menu was a carrot salad served with roast pork in its red wine gravy, gratin dauphinois (a potatoes gratin slow-baked in milk and cream) and an apricot tart for dessert (with almond filling). I had also prepped up the house and made some paper-based decorations for a Valentine's Day table set up - you can check my post about it here.

We were lucky to get the assistance and photography service of Nao Lincoln, whose wonderful photographs are illustrating this post, thank you so much Nao!

Above, a paper heart adorning a paper straw, made with a Martha Stewart puncher. I used the same puncher to make the heart garlands for the backdrops, very useful indeed!

I had kept the festive and colorful paper garlands hung for my son's birthday, initially purchased a couple of years ago in Amsterdam, Holland.

Above, a name card also created with a Martha Stewart puncher, the heart lace craft puncher. Find the pretty polka dotted paper at one of my favorite craft supply store at Parco Shibuya, WRAPPLE, in many different shades. I love it and use it regularly.

Apricot amandine tart for dessert

Dessert... since we were more than 10 people to eat lunch, and we held three workshops, I baked 6 tarts within a week. I love this dessert with its almond-based crust and filling. Next time I will try it out with pineapple instead of apricots...

Below are some of the super cute cookies that participants created. Every single participants creates her own set of 10 cookies with personal designs and inspiration.

And finally pictures of the lunch set as served to every one... does it look delicious?
