Styling in Singapore for {RUE Magazine Issue #6} {Part III}

Today is my last post about the styling of an apartment in Singapore for Rue Magazine Issue #6 {catch up with Part I and Part II if you have missed them}. I have focused on the bedrooms and the study room. More photos available in Rue p.151 to 165 {here}.

I loved how the colors in the two boy's bedrooms and study room clashed with the rather neutral tones in the rest of the apartment. Quite unexpected and very refreshing!

The biggest daybed I have ever seen in a luscious green color...
a great getaway for lazy afternoons!

Afternoon tea anyone?

Don't laugh, but my styling signature might become orchids and macaroons! They are the only props I purchased for this shoot and I love how it easily enhances a setting and brings colors and life to an image.

The macaroons are from ET Artisan Sweets in Singapore {yes, I went all the way to Henri Park to buy them the day before the shoot!}. And they were absolutely delicious...

Styling in Singapore for {RUE Mag Issue #6} {Part II}

Slowly unraveling additional pictures of the shoot done for Rue Magazine {Issue #6} by Scott A.Woodward and styled by myself earlier this month... You can catch up with Part I if you have missed it.

My favorite room in the whole apartment was most probably the master bedroom - with attached bathroom.
I'm usually a person who loves bright colors in my home, but this bedroom felt so peaceful and quiet with the afternoon sun flowing in, I could only get inspired when styling it.

Note that I added touches of colors here and there: the shoes, the fancy jewelry {absolutely loved these pieces} or the orchids...

I hope you are enjoying the little extra provided here on the blog. I have a couple more pictures to share tomorrow {Part III}.
For the whole story behind this apartment, the interior decorator and the owner, you can check Rue Mag Issue #6 {here}. A true love story!

Styling in Singapore for {RUE Magazine Issue #6}{Part I}

I am so thrilled today to share with you pictures of the stunning apartment I have styled in early July with award-winning photographer Scott A.Woodward in Singapore for Issue #6 of Rue Magazine.
It's been a breeze to work with Scott and Crystal Gentilello {editor-in-chief of Rue} and I am stunned by the end result. This post will focus on the living area and I will later on post my favorite pictures of the bedrooms.

The apartment was already very well decorated which made the styling job very enjoyable. Adding to that was the superb collection of objects, photograph, books and arts pieces collected by the owners while travelling. I felt it was a well decorated apartment, with a homey feeling too which made me wish I could meet  with Agnes Verrier and chit chat about France and interior decoration!

What are you feeling about this apartment? Does it make you dream? Which interior decoration idea would you pick up and translate into your home?

Share your thoughts!

And stay tuned as I have more photos to share later this afternoon... {Part II}{Part III}

My {Singapore} Weekend Guide

Lovelies, I thought I would start sharing with you my {Singapore}Weekend Guide, or things I plan/ would like to do over the weekend... Bear in mind that I have two young children though ;)

::: SATURDAY :::
Tanjong Beach Club - Sentosa

Woken up quite early  for a Saturday {you've been warned!}, I would love for once to skip our regular Saturday lunch plans {fried fish at home} and head to the Tanjong Beach Club in Sentosa for a lazy brunch... kids can play on the beach and we can all have a dip in the swimming pool!

Doesn't a brunch at Tanjong Beach Club sound lovely?

Saturday & Sunday brunch: from 10am to 4:30pm

When the heat becomes unbearable {at noon?}, it's time to go home and let the kids rest before heading to the Art Garden exhibition at SAM {Singapore Art Museum}{I know we've already been last Tuesday, but it's too good}. If you have read my short report two days ago, you know we had lots of fun and that it's as enjoyable for the parents as it is for the kids. Really. I mean it.

Monday to Sunday 10am to 7pm
Friday 10am to 9pm {free from 6 to 9pm!}

Once the kids have been fed and are in bed , I am tempted to head to Lau Pasat iconic food court for a quick and inexpensive fix. I don't have any favorite stall to recommend, but there is everything from Vietnamese to Filipino, Chinese, Malay, Indian foods etc...

Then I would hang around Esplanade and try to catch up the fireworks {rehearsal for the National day celebration in August 9} before heading up to Marina Bay Sand to check out their Chocolate bar. The alternative is to spend some time at bar/ lounge Kudeta. The music is good, and the view... oh my, the view is just amazing.

No more clubbing for us at the moment, as Sundays are usually starting even earlier than Saturdays... you can't really wake up at 7am if you've been to bed at 3am the night before, right?

::: SUNDAY :::
We yet have to bring the kids to Pulau Ubin {I haven't been too, oups!}, rent a bike and explore the island. Irene of Bloesem Blog has written a report of their excursion on her blog with beautiful pictures to illustrate it. If you haven't been, you will want to go right now {if weather permits of course}.

After such an excursion with two kids, all you want is to hang out by the pool and ... REST! haha... joking, the kids will still have plenty of energy, so you can hang out by the pool and ... entertain THEM.

Happy weekend everyone! what are YOUR plans?

Interior Design {Teak Furniture}

Today I wanted to share a bit more with you about a lovely furniture shop I stumbled upon in Hong Kong {see my travel report on Bloesem Blog here}. It is called TREE and claim to be the first eco-chic furniture boutique in Hong Kong.

TREE shop in Elgin Street

Founder Nicole Wakley had a very clear vision to share with Hong Kong of a beautiful, sustainable and comfortable home living. TREE's concept incorporates a clean, relaxed and re-energized living space with strong contemporary lines and flawless craftsmanship.

I am totally into teak furniture pieces and I loved what I discovered at TREE. It would have been hard to choose between, the beautifully hand crafted tables, the bookcases and lovely storage boxes made of reclaimed wood from abandoned fishing boats in Indonesia {with an industrial twist}.

In Singapore it's not really a problem to shop for teak furniture pieces... From upscale vintage, eco-chic shop Journey East or personalized shopping at Origin Asia,  to wholesale warehouse* on the East Coast, there are plenty of options to furnish your home with style.

If you like vintage refurbished pieces, you can check Like That One in Bukit Batok, or A Thousand Tales in Haji Lane {near Arab Street}. And Restore in Tanjong Pagar Rd is a lovely small cafe selling refurbished chairs and armchairs. They make wonderful waffles too!

Let me know if you are looking for something in particular, I might know the right place for you to shop in Singapore!

What type of furniture do you like for your home? do you shop vintage or reclaimed furniture pieces?

* We've personally bought from Origin Asia, Scanteak in Joo Chiat and at the wholesale warehouse in Ubi Avenue. Ask me if you need an advice!

Art Garden {Singapore Art Museum}

I rarely share pictures/ stories of the many activities I do with my children on the blog {I have another blog for that - over here - that some of you may know already}. But yesterday we went to the Art Garden exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum, and I was as impressed as last year by the quality of the works presented. It's a magical Art Garden and I highly recommend it for the little ones and grown-ups alike!

Mummy Dearest by Justin Lee, 2011
Kids can play to dress up the dolls {boys and girls, small and big} and decorate the cake for Mummy in the playroom inspired by old-fashioned cut-out paper dolls.

A must-go with kids of all age!

 My boy loved playing with the colorful and big blocks...

There is much more to see at the Art Garden exhibit, you could spend the whole afternoon there if you want... Plenty of arts & crafts and interactive play to do with your children...

Ps: I have only two kids! Chloe and Mathias... we went to SAM with a lovely friend (in the middle - top pic)

A pink dress {Princess like}

I have had this dress in the making for a couple of months now... it's in a gorgeous light pink Thai silk and raspberry lace. I had first made this design as a flower girl dress for my daughter.

Do you like the association of silk and lace for a little girl? Are you dressing up your girl(s) for big events such as wedding and birthday parties? Share with me!

Good morning all, how was your weekend?

Here is a sneak peek at my latest bag... one of my all time favorite color combo {Aqua Pink Gold}...

A lot of work has been going into the embroidery work as you can imagine... I hand sew every single sequin one after the other following my inspiration at the time. Which makes each bag unique in the entire world!

NEW Design {Floral pouch with golden trim}

Here is one of my latest pouch designs. I love the combination of the floral print, the golden trim and the fuchsia lining. This pouch is truly unique as I bought the trim during my recent trip to Hong Kong and I only bought enough for making one :)

Elegant as an evening purse and easy to keep in any handbags!
